Roy Nanz

With over 30 years of experience, Roy’s expertise includes all areas of process excellence and continuous improvement with extensive knowledge of Business Process Management, Lean, Six Sigma, Design for Lean Six Sigma, Voice of the Customer, and Kaizen Rapid Improvement techniques.

Before coming to Firefly Consulting, Roy honed his process improvement expertise at General Electric where he was at the forefront of their Six Sigma program and became one of GE's very first Six Sigma Master Black Belts. Prior to earning his Master Black Belt designation, Roy held numerous leadership positions in both design engineering and manufacturing operations. He was also a key member of the corporate team that developed GE's Design for Six Sigma training curriculum. While employed at RR Donnelley & Sons, Roy led the company’s Six Sigma program. They achieved more than $10M in annual savings.

Roy is an experienced trainer and mentor who has skillfully delivered all levels of Lean Six Sigma training to thousands of practitioners at clients across various industries worldwide. Over the course of his career, he has led dozens of Kaizen events. He is also an experienced consultant with a warmth for people as well as a focus on results.

Notable Achievements

  • Successfully led a team of Six Sigma Black Belts which delivered more than $31M in operating margin benefits and generated more than $28M in cash flow benefits from Lean Six Sigma manufacturing projects at GE.
  • Delivered more than $25M in savings at a premier pharmaceutical company with an ROI of 7X by effectively leading a Lean Six Sigma engagement in all major shared services functions – IT, HR, finance, sales & marketing, R&D and strategic sourcing.
  • Identified supply chain savings opportunities estimated at $150M at a major office supply retailer by collaborating with the retailer’s top 15 suppliers to identify, select and charter joint Lean Six Sigma process improvement projects.
  • Effectively redesigned a core insurance process at a major healthcare company by utilizing the Design for Lean Six Sigma methodology and leading a collaborative team of medical management doctors and nurses. Reduced total process steps by 61% and the number of handoffs within the process by 47%.
